Kinesiology, Reflexology and Natural Nutrition in North East Fife & Tayside

After training as a nurse in Edinburgh I worked in theatre for a few months before leaving to nurse in Nepal. There I was privileged to work with a truly holistic physician, who incorporated local herbal knowledge and experience into medical healthcare provision. From Nepal I moved to West Berlin, where I worked as a nurse for about 10 years and encountered how naturopathic treatments and approaches, herbal medicines, hydrotherapy and massage were incorporated into medical treatment protocols. Rehabilitation was also a standard part of treatment provision.

Returning to Scotland 20 years later I experienced how healthcare provision had become very focused on pharmaceutical and surgical medicine. When serious illness struck in our family we did our best to incorporate an holistic approach. This experience convinced me of the very valuable contribution alternative/ complementary treatments can make, particularly in the treatment of long-term or chronic illness and led to my decision to train as a therapist.

I trained as a healer with the National Federation of Spiritual Healing (NFSH) in the mid 90s and later in Basic Theta Healing in 2009/ 10.
I trained in the use of Bach Flower Essences in the mid 90s initially using them for myself and my family. In 2000 I trained in the use of Bush Flower Essences with Ian Scott, their creator and they are now an integral part of many of my treatments.

My interest in Naturopathy has its origin in my time as a nurse in Germany. This led me to train to be a Natural Nutrition Practitioner with The College of Natural Nutrition, qualifying in 2006. As with many alternative therapy courses, this course involved students following the NN treatment protocols themselves, so they could experience the process and thus be better placed to advise and support clients.

I first learned Optimum Health Balance (OHB) Kinesiology and Touch for Health Kinesiology (TFH) levels 1 - 4, in 1990 and 1991. During our son's illness I used Kinesiology on an almost daily basis for over three years, which gave me plenty of opportunity to observe its effectiveness!
I later studied OHB professionally and went on to do Advanced training between 2004 - 2006. I did 2 years of Professional Kinesiology Practitioner (PKP) training from 1999 -2001 and during this time I re-trained in TFH, this time completing TFH5 and completing the Foundation Level Assessment for the Kinesiology Foundation. I became an Associate Member of the Kinesiology Federation in 2004 and a full Kinesiology Practitioner member in 2006. I have continued advanced training in both kinesiology systems throughout my time in practice.
I am qualified to teach OHB to Advanced Level and to teach TFH levels 1 - 4.

I trained as a reflexologist, qualifying from The Scottish School of Reflexology in 1997. I became an Associate Member of the Association of Reflexologists in 1998 and a Full Member in 2000. Over the years of my practice I have studied many different Reflexology disciplines and have integrated aspects of them into my treatments. I have a particular interest in Reflexology of the Spine as it seems to work closely with the autonomic nervous system and offers interesting insights into Reflexology's therapeutic effectiveness.

While living in Berlin I completed a Masters Degree in General Linguistics and German Literature at the Technische Universität Berlin. I worked as a translator for a number of years and am a fluent German speaker.

From 1997 I practised from my home in Gauldry and in St Andrews until I opened my own practice in Dundee in 2005. When I had my practice in Dundee, I also did weekly sessions with a Mental Health Charity for six years, gaining useful experience and insights into how to use my therapies to help clients suffering from chronic stress, anxiety and depression.
Unfortunately, in late 2011, serious family illness meant I had to give up practising professionally for a few years. I still used my therapies to help my family and kept up to date with new developments and in Spring 2016 I started practising professionally again from my home clinic in Gauldry, located near Newport on Tay and easily accessible from Tayside and North East Fife.
